WHY PARTICIPATE IN THE ANGLICAN COMMUNION NETWORK

November 21, 2007

The Rev. James K. McCaslin, Jr.

1. The Network is the focal point for the reunification of North American orthodox Anglicanism.

2.  Network Moderator Bishop Robert Duncan serves as Chairman of the Common Cause Partnership (CCP), the federation that is forming the new ecclesiastical structure for orthodox Anglicans in North America.

3.  Network Moderator Bishop Robert Duncan is recognized by orthodox Primates around the world and by the leaders of the CCP here at home as the spiritual leader called and gifted to gather North American orthodox Anglicans into a unified structure for the sake of the Gospel mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.

4.  The Network, through its staff in Pittsburgh and it convocation offices throughout the country, serves as the bridge for orthodox Anglicans who no longer can be associated with TEC, assisting them in crossing over into orthodox Anglican jurisdictions while working to form the new ecclesiastical structure.

5.  Network membership connects both TEC affiliates and non-TEC ICON (International Conference of the Network) partner congregations to the CCP, the home of the new American Anglican ecclesiastical structure.

6.  The Network, through its offices, provides spiritual encouragement, prayer support, current information, communications media, legal counsel, property and casualty insurance and clergy retirement plans, and direct personal assistance for orthodox Anglicans still in TEC and for non-TEC ICON congregations currently under overseas jurisdictions.

7. In coordination with Network leaders, Global South Primates have consecrated American domestic bishops to provide episcopal ministry for ICON congregations.

8.  The Network, out of its commitment to build a biblical, united, and missionary church, has established new initiatives for church planting (the Rev. Tom Herrick), evangelism (the Rev. Michael Green), youth and children’s ministry (the Rev. Jack Gabig), and world missions programs (the Rev. John Cruikshank) to include the Anglican Global Mission Partners (AGMP).

9.  The Network has established the Anglican Relief and Development Fund (Canon Nancy Norton) as the relief arm of the CCP with a board of Anglican Primates directing relief and development programs abroad.

10.  The Network leadership, working with all its members, plans, organizes, and conducts conferences, workshops, and other gatherings for worship, discipleship, communications, fellowship, and mutual support.

11.  The Network has established regional discernment committees (and a Board of Examining Chaplains in the Southeastern Convocation) for those considering a call to Holy Orders in the new American Anglicanism.

12.  The Network assists CCP congregations and clergy in search in deploying clergy to fill vacancies.

13. The Network, with a view toward the primacy of Gospel mission and ministry, strives to maintain godly accountability in the stewardship of personnel and financial resources.
